Men of which God?

Image
Photo credit: Parables Gh It's been a struggle for me to begin this write-up. My thoughts have been flooded with emotions...  Let me state that this is not an attack on anyone. I'm trying to speak the mind of many who are afraid to speak... because of ‘ touch not my anointed’. I dare to say that if Ghana (even Africa) were to be plunged into destruction, it would not be the sole responsibility of corrupt politicians…but a ‘certain men of God’, their hallelujah children and those of you who kept quiet and allowed them the space to mock the freedom and peace of our beloved country.  Nowadays, I find it difficult to tune in to any radio station…because these people who purport to be messengers of God will not let us live our lives out of joy but fear and panic. I will always appalled by their outrageous comments. Some years back, there was sanity in the religious arena... there was sanity on our radio stations... I remember people were very discipline and responsibl...

My 1st Birthday Celebration

Image
"We took laxatives to narcotize our suffering. I also tried conventional levitation on the T pot. But those brothers refused to respond to us when we called them... for about 48 hours and some minutes they were on hibernation." Given that today is my birthday, I write these words to share with you -my friends. Welcome to my 17th birthday celebration. You read right...Yeah, 17th! I've celebrated 16 birthdays in my life...and today adds to that number. Until the year 2000, I never knew birthdays were to be celebrated. In fact, those celebrations were not popular in my family prior to that year [and still not that popular in the extended family]. None of my parents celebrated or celebrates theirs… as for me, the only times birth days [or should I say dates?] became important to me were during involuntary visits to clinics and school registration. Now back to my birthday celebration. I remember my first birthday celebration vividly... it was on 3rd September 2000 inst...

RIGHTEOUS TROTRO

Image
“May the Lord harass you with a Tsunami of Blessings”, he declared... and the usual Amen could be heard in every space of the Trotro (a.k.a Troski – public bus). I, however, responded with a cuss. Yeah, you read right…a cuss!  Why? Kindly follow the read. Righteous Trotro. Photocredit: Benjamin Kwarteng I stay at Baatsona, somewhere in Accra. Every morning, I count on Troski drivers and their conductors to get to my workplace. Today, May 11 2017, I got to the bus stop but for some weird reason, I took a snapshot of the troski I boarded.  I got aboard the troski and little did I know that it was one of those ‘Righteous Troskis’ - public buses with someone preaching to [pretentious] passengers. I had just given the fare to the conductor (a.k.a Mate) when a man in a blue shirt on a row [just at the fore of me] stood up to share the word of God. He sought the permission of the driver to preach and greeted those (passengers) on the bus…which I thought was cool because some...

Before You Share, Care!

Photo credit: Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Community Group I was 12 years at the time (living with one of my elderly Sisters), and I had just returned from school. My nephew, Kojo, was sitting under the shade of an ornamental plant (which is still alive today) reading the day’s newspaper. My curiosity moved me like Southwest Monsoon winds to check out what he was reading. He showed me the front page of the newspaper and there it was…a man holding severed head of a young boy –probably 6 years  old. My heart skipped a beat, and my whole body shivered. In fact, I was traumatized by what I saw! …that was my first time of seeing a severed head, and even if it was the second time, it still wouldn’t have been pleasant to my eyes. I could not sleep well in the night…it was as if I was being haunted.  Fast-forwarding to a version older of me, I have recovered from that trauma and adapted to graphic images in the world community. I may have adjusted over time, however, ther...

'Cutpurse Saints'

“None of our members would steal money from the Church’s coffers”.  This assertion is commonly associated with churches that by nature are involved in the holy and noble mission of seeking to win souls for Christ and His Kingdom. The leaders are mostly devoted and mission- driven. They operate with the mindset that all those (church members, board members, etc.) aboard the mission ship are working towards the same direction, and they think and feel that there is no need to institute stringent controls to deactivate any temptations for individuals. Within these settings, there are practically no effective controls, and that is when ‘Cutpurse Saints’ enter the scene to take advantage of the church community. I am not trying to paint a picture (existence of fraud) that does not exist. After all what benefit do I get by painting such an image. I share in the concerns by people who want the right systems to be put in place to sanitize the church environment. For instance, why would...

Who is a Man?

Asantehemaa's funeral Photocredit: Bob Pixel Written on January 17, 2017. 8.33 pm with inspirations from  Kwame Amoako's Whatsapp post. It was one of the normal evenings for me. I had just finished some discussions with a friend on blogging. I decided to check on my whatsapp groups because I had not opened the app for most of the hours of the day. Upon opening, the first post I saw, from one of the many groups I join, was from my nephew Kwame Amoako. The post read 'who is a man? A man is one who goes out on Thursday in the evening to buy something at Manhyia or Bremang๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚' I believe anyone with inquisitive mind like mine would want to know why he made the above comments. And some of us too may attempt to answer the question he asked. Kindly hold on to your thoughts...I may visit that discussion on who is a man in future post.   Let me however comment on the post he made and probably try to share my thoughts, garnished with ‘gutterflavor’. The above W...
